The activities awarded to Tecnatom by the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission (Comisión Federal de Electricidad) for the 17th refuelling outage at the country’s Laguna Verde nuclear power plant were completed on January 10th last.
The scope of the activities included the diagnosis of 70 motor and air-operated valves, the functional testing and maintenance of 84 hydraulic and mechanical snubbers and the NDT inspection of various sections of piping and heat exchanger tube bundles.
Also within the scope of this work, Tecnatom supplied two level II ultrasonic, radiography, penetrant liquid, visual inspection and magnetic particles technicians who provided support for the refuelling activities. An expert in licence renewal activities also participated, since this plant is currently involved in arrangements for the renewal of its operating permit.
