During its 41st Annual Meeting, held in the city of A Coruña, in the session on Nuclear Power Plant Experiences and Perspectives, the Spanish Nuclear Society (SNE) awarded prizes to two papers presented by Tecnatom. These papers dealt with technology and radiological and environmental protection.
The technology paper, by Amador Sillero, Héctor Calas and Francisco Javier Fernández, dealt with the Development and application of EMAT generated ultrasonic technology for the inspection of piping by means of non-destructive testing techniques and may be read in the April edition of
Nuclear España, the journal of the Spanish Nuclear Society. The paper describes how Tecnatom’s new developments in Phased Array and EMAT technology drastically increase efficiency in piping inspections.
For their part, Celia Torres and Rodrigo Gil presented the paper Impact of PROMOCAT in emergency management at ANAV, which deals with the PROMOCAT (TSC modernisation project) application arising from the need to improve and modernise emergency management processes at the Ascó and Vandellòs nuclear power plants. The development and installation of PROMOCAT provides the TSC and other emergency centres with computerised processes, facilitating the integral management of actual or simulated emergencies and serving at the same time as a powerful training tool.
