The Spanish national radioactive waste management company Empresa Nacional de Residuos Radiactivos (ENRESA) has awarded Tecnatom a new contract for its low and intermediate level waste disposal centre at El Cabril, in the province of Córdoba. Specifically, the scope of the project consists of the preparation, performance, evaluation and documentation of the flow distribution and air-aerosol mix uniformity tests of the high efficiency (HEPA) filtering units of several of the El Cabril installations.
The contract includes the supply and assembly of the test connections required for the measurements to be performed, items that will become part of the facility.
This type of tests, performed on systems and components, is essential for insight to be gained into their operating conditions, since they allow alterations in processes to be located and quantified.
Tecnatom possesses a unit specialising in the testing of air filtering and ventilation systems that carries out projects relating to filter retention efficiency measures, the measurement of flows in ducts, structural integrity tests in ventilation systems or flow distribution tests. For this purpose, Tecnatom also has a laboratory accredited by ENAC for flow, pressure and temperature that provides support for the company’s activities in this field.
