The Tecnatom Internal Personnel Dosimetry Service (IPDS) has been awarded a three-year contract by the Spanish radioactive waste management company Empresa Nacional de Residuos Radiactivos, S.A. (ENRESA) for the control of internal dosimetry for the workers involved in the dismantling and decommissioning of JoséCabrera nuclear power plant.
The contract is for three years and will include the performance of two activities. One of these will be the control of the dosimetric surveillance of all the personnel exposed to the risk of incorporating radioactive isotopes into the body during the performance of the work involved in dismantling the facility. The Tecnatom mobile unit, which is equipped with a whole body counter (WBC), will be used for this activity. This mobile unit will be located on the site of the nuclear power plant.
In addition, dosimetry by bioelimination will be carried out through the radiochemical analysis of biological samples. This control has to be performed by a personnel dosimetry service authorised by the Nuclear Safety Council and accredited by the national accreditation body (ENAC) in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17025 Standard, such as the Tecnatom IPDS.
