Tecnatom has delivered a new simulator of the Anllares thermal power plant, operated by Gas Natural Fenosa and Endesa in the municipality of Paramos del Sil, in El Bierzo in León. This project has consisted of completely updating the hardware platform of the original simulator, which was developed in 2001 and which was currently affected by complications associated with equipment obsolescence.
The project has consisted of transferring the software from the previous platform to a modern configuration based on an updated operating system. One of the fundamental challenges of the work was the difficulty in obtaining licences for the new environment, which meant the need for emulation and virtualisation in the new equipment and the adaptation of drivers that were not compatible with the associated peripherals.
The experience gleaned from the process has meant significant progress in this type of solutions, where a simulator may be executed independently from the hardware platform, ensuring the possibility of duplication and maintenance in any environment.
The success of this project strengthens Tecnatom’s position as a leader in the development and maintenance of simulators in the energy sector, where the company has developed dozens of simulators at international level and for technologies as diverse as nuclear, thermal and renewable energies.
