Tecnatom has been awarded a three-year contract for the maintenance and setting of the pressuriser safety valves at the Ascó and Vandellós nuclear power plants. This implies the performance of this service during the next six refuelling outages at the two Spanish plants.
The pressuriser safety valves (PSV’s) of these plants, of Westinghouse design, were subjected a few years ago to a design change affecting their internals, consisting of a seat disk change as a result of elimination of the water seal in the pressuriser connection line. As from that moment the plants decided to have valve setting and maintenance performed by an external laboratory instead of carrying this out on the spot.
In addition to the ANAV plants in Tarragona, Tecnatom also provides this service to Almaraz nuclear power plant. The contract currently in force with ANAV also includes the management of PSV spares. The achievement of this multi-annual contract consolidates our position in this area of critical component maintenance, with the aim of ensuring plant availability throughout the operating cycle.
