The Open-Phase tests were performed successfully at Trillo nuclear power plant last September using the EMS OP-TCM system from the firm Enging, with which Tecnatom has signed a collaboration agreement in the field of electrical machinery diagnosis.
The Open-Phase phenomenon was detected recently and is a situation of irregular operation of the power transformer and its protections. The Enging system for the detection of Open-Phase has been designed to detect problems affecting the power transformer and arising in the windings, magnetic plate and load tap switcher.
The tests were witnessed by the plant personnel of the Trillo and Almaraz nuclear power plants and the CNAT engineering personnel, as well as by a representative of the CSN. The results of the tests performed confirm that this system is capable of providing the solutions required by the nuclear power plants in their efforts to ensure safe and efficient operation.
