Acquiring 50% of this company strengthens Tecnatom’s capabilities in radioactive waste management, decommissioning and environmental analysis.
Madrid, February 12th 2021.– As part of its process of growth and diversification, Tecnatom has acquired 50% of the company Medidas Ambientales. To date this share was in the hands of the company Nuclenor (the owner of Santa María de Garoña nuclear power plant), the shareholding of Medidas Ambientales now corresponding to Proinsa (EULEN Group) and Tecnatom, each with 50%.
Medidas Ambientales, is a company located in Medina de Pomar (Burgos) that for several decades has been providing radiochemistry services in both the field of radiology for the nuclear industry – providing support for the Spanish nuclear power plants and Enresa- and in the environmental sector through the analysis of contaminated waters and soils.
In recent years Tecnatom has worked jointly with Medidas Ambientales in projects relating to services for nuclear power plants and in the evaluation of land affected by radioactive materials of natural origin (NORM). In this respect, the laboratory reinforces Tecnatom’s capabilities in the performance of spectrometry analyses in technical studies for the assessment of radiological impact.
Javier Guerra, CEO of the company explains: “The acquisition of Medidas Ambientales is part of our plan for diversification and positioning in strategic sectors such as radioactive waste management, the decommissioning of nuclear power plants and the management of materials in NORM industries.”
