Tecnatom has completed the activities performed during the 28th refuelling outage at Trillo nuclear power plant and the 23rd such outage at group 2 of the Ascó plant.
The 23rd refuelling outage at group 2 of Ascó nuclear power plant began on April 30th. A novelty on this occasion was the surveillance of power cables, in addition to the normal inspection and testing services (conventional non-destructive testing, steam generator welds, vessel bolts, leak testing and valve diagnosis, pressure boundary, functional and in-service testing, supports and snubbers, in-core instrumentation maintenance or the eddy current inspection of steam generator tubes, among other activities).
In parallel to the above, the 28th refuelling outage at Trillo nuclear power plant began on May 18th, this year including the eddy current inspection of 100% of the tubes in one steam generator, as well as the eddy current inspection of the control rods, in addition to conventional activities similar to those described for Ascó 2.
The performance of this work meant the mobilisation of a large number of people and required additional effort due to the two outages overlapping.
